Well, if he is a visionary, he won't last long it Mississippil. That's for damned sure. We've sent the visionaries packing in the past. Don't want no change. Want things to be like they always been! Don't want nobody who ain't from 'round here comin' in here tellin' us what we needs to be doin.'

"Meredith said a main goal is to get more Mississippians to go to college. He noted that 75 percent of Americans and 83 percent of Mississippians do not have a college degree.

"When more people go to college, the state wins," he said. "These are people who are going to be in the economy, paying more taxes."

He said he was going to begin marketing the benefits of a university education."

The state benefits when students graduate from college with more than just a high school education. I heard that in the CoST students with 5 academic suspensions are being readmitted in order to keep the numbers up. From his response to a question at the Faculty Senate meeting President Thames doesn't know (or won't acknowledge) that quality has been sacrificed for quantity for many years now.

True, donald. And USM doesn't want nobody who is from 'round here comin' in telling us what we needs to be doin' either. Those who have so much as observed things one or two miles beyond the Mississippi border will be told 'shut yore mouth.'
