Any word on the results of the big faculty golf tournament this past weekend.I know the winners will soon be headed for some "research " out in Las Vegas, but I haven"t heard who the champs are.

First of all, the tournament is the Comcast Classic held by Student Affairs. There is a student, faculty/staff, and alumni/community divisions. First place from each division wins an all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas to play in the "national" tournament organized by the rec sports association thingee. This wasn't just a "faculty" tournament.
Also, Dave and Kerry won last year, took there wives on their own dime, and then WON the national title. They won't be donating anything (it's really not an option) but I hope they win again - that would be cool.

Shucks, Logic....chill a bit. Dave is a friend and a good guy. Just having some fun with this thread. Now if the subject of the thread had been the elitist Richard K who's always playing golf (while not writing letters to the editor criticizing his colleagues), then I would have been serious.

Are you trolling or is it that unclear? No one is handed a wad of cash and told "go west young man and play in said sporting competition." Arrangements will be made for Dave and Kerry and they will enjoy . . . there is 'no cash value' - like the coupon in your wallet.

We have some trolls tonight, Please, who are having trouble getting started. Just give them time and the trolling will commence shortly.
Congratulations to our emitrius senate president Dave Beckett!
WINNERS OF SOUTHERN MISS COMCAST GOLF CLASSIC ADVANCE
TO LAS VEGAS CHAMPIONSHIP
HATTIESBURG — The Southern Miss Comcast Golf Classic brought together the Southern Miss Division of Student Affairs, students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the university on Oct. 1 to recognize and support a variety of Southern Miss scholarships. Prior to tee time, each team of golfers designated a particular scholarship program to benefit from their play.
The three championship flight division winners advanced to the national championships to be held Nov.12-13 at the Badlands Golf Club in Las Vegas.
The three division categories included Student/Student, Faculty/Staff, and Alumni/Community. The winners in each division, respectively, were Shea Magee and Stephen Yelverton; Kerry Geroux and Dave Beckett; and Anthony Lee and Greg Howell.
There was also a second flight with the same divisions named the “Joe Paul” flight, in honor of Southern Miss Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Joe Paul. The winners of the three divisions of the Joe Paul flight were Seth Hester and Brett Richards; Danny Rawls and John Hayman; and Jan Lacy and Terry Lacy.
The two-person scramble began with lunch and then a shotgun start at 1:15 p.m. at the championship Canebrake Golf Course, rated third in the state by Golf Digest.
“This year’s tournament field was the largest we’ve had with 90 players,” said Paul. “The proceeds will be able to fund 28 student scholarships and stipends.”
Susan Bourland, director of Student Support Services, said “sponsorship has risen from 30 sponsors three years ago to 42 for the 2005 Classic. Having Comcast as the title sponsor allows for more proceeds from the tournament to go toward scholarships and stipends.”

Congratulations to Dave and Kerry! For all the trollers who complain about "faculty on the golf course," I'd like them to note that the "second flight" winner was that heroine of the Paving Company Putsch, Jan Lacy (of CopyCats Printing). So, if faculty golfers are lazy, what if they happen to be on the course at the same time as "individual business owners?"

Business owners have time to play golf?!?! They must be lazy and overpaid! Why don't they get a real job like faculty members?
