I have left Birmingham and am with a brother in Shreveport.  His house is loaded with evacs.  I need to know the condition of houses in the Burnt Bridge Rd an Frances St area????  I also would like to know if 61 ,55,98,or49 are open. Highway Patrol roadblocks have stopped me at each of these.  How do you get around them?  I am low on gas and would appreciate any help.

I55 is open - 98 west of Hattiesburg is open - we drove out Tuesday night. I live in the Oak Grove area too and houses are generally ok but some have trees on or through them. The roads are tricky but have generally been cleared in that area to at leass one lane. There should be gas available in Brookhaven.

So this is what they mean by cold turkey?

TG - I think Burnt Bridge Road is off Oak Grove Road.  Wind damage is extensive in the area and many, if not most, houses are damaged.   Power (and water) are slowly being restored.   We've been up for about an hour.  80% of roads were impassable three days ago but most are relatively clear now.

C - Princess said she met you, described you as "very handsome" and passed on your message.  Glad you're safe.

Vic - I am worried about you; contact me when you can.

Other friends - the eye of the storm reportedly passed over Belleview in Lamar County.  The extent of wind damage to natural resources and property is beyond my ability to describe.   WDAM just announced that Forrest General now has power.  All we can think about are our friends on the coast and in New Orleans who fared so much worse.
