The following block of letters is a word search puzzles like the ones most of us played as kids (or even now when we're travelling or stuck in a waiting room). This one contains at least 29 words (or groups of words run together) related to "the USM situation" & this message board. They're laid out horizontally, reversed, vertically (both up and down) & diagonally. I'll post the list later this weekend.

The puzzle was formatted to display in a nonproportional font (Courier) & worked fine in the preview. Unfortunately the "PRE" control adds too many linefeeds. If you want to play the puzzle, highlight it & copy/paste it into Notepad or something,. Then print in a Courier-type font.
The juxtaposition in the final line was particularly clever. Of course, now you will tell me that a computer program did this and that no cleverness was involved . . .

Yes, it was a computer program. It took many, many elf-hours to write & even on the BOGUS supercomputer, we had to go through thousands of iterations before we achieved results fit for public consumption. It also helps to "feed" the desired results into the computer first, but then we figure most of the scholarly researchers at USM already know that!
We hope the persons contained on the final line enjoy the juxtaposition as much as you did, Symp!
Well, I've never been in a puzzle before, so the honor is right up there with my "Cerebral Babe of the Week" award, as a highlight of my participation on this board. Well, that and the flowers from Judge Cooley. You have to go some to beat flowers.
As for the juxtiposition, further deponent saith not.
I am absolutely no good at puzzles, and I am particularly brain-dead right now (having graded final exams all week), but these are the ones I've found with some casual looking:
Good work, USM Symp. Keep trying. There are about 10 more. And I don't think there are any intentional diagonals in this puzzle, which is purely accidental.

I have no idea, other than my initials are easy to work into the puzzle, and beyond that I don't get it. DJ is in there too -- does that "mean" something?

It's obvious that "LVN" was put in there to keep an eye on "seeker," who is right next to her. This is a function she performs admirably on this board, so she might as well also do it in a puzzle.

I think I found it. Those silly elves! They've been playing "Jumble" again in the newspaper...
