I am very pleased to announce that we have just posted a new position in the Dean's office for the College of Education and Psychology. The position is for a second Associate Dean. This will be a great help to Mitch Berman and me as we work to better support and nurture the academic programs in the College. We are particularly looking forward to this position helping with the expansion of our educational offerings on the coast as well as the Hattiesburg campus. Please review the position posting at the website below and consider encouraging suitable candidates.
I doubt DANA is the likely recipient of this job - they wouldn't have posted it if that was the case. I commend Pierce and Berman for actually posting a job - something Sir Pood never does when he needs an associate dean.
Let's see that's one dean, 2 (with this hire) associate deans and an assistant dean (for NCATE) and a chair who basically call all the shots for education, WIth dwindling faculty in CISE and NCATE not in the bag yet - it seems like another poor administrative decision

So like, what does this mean? That there is no method to the administration's not yet naming an interim provost for the Coast? If that appointment, the interim Coast provost, is being held up because of some sweeping change planned for the Coast, a change that will sweep USM out, then why advertise a new CoEP administrative position with responsiblity for "expanding . . . our educational offerings on the coast"?
Is it a feint? Or maybe Shelby and the lads are not going to go quietly off the Coast.
