I heard Peter Butko say in the Senate that he's ON LEAVE from USM next year, and will take a VISITING prof slot at Maryland durign that time. His departure, if this is true, is by no means assured.
Similarly, I'm pretty sure that Mary Villiponteaux (English Dept.) has NOT resigned from USM, not in 2004-2005 anyhow. Nor has she secured a job at Armstrong Atlantic. Her husband, David Wheeler, HAS already left, for a chair's job at Armstrong Atlantic. But Villleponteaux's plan, I think, is to stay at USM for 2005-2006.
Another departure to note, this from the midst of Thames land. Steven Boys a brand new prof in Polymer Science unexpectedly resigned after two years. He has a position at the University of Colorado starting before the fall semester.
The USM Foundation's associate director, Donna McGuyer, left July 15 after giving six weeks' notice. She now teaches English for PRCC and communication for Kaplan University.
Ginamarie Pugliese's resignation had nothing to do with Thames. I just wonder how many others "coincidently" retired or left because of other reasons. hmmm...

No one is claiming that all these departures are due to Thames. Nevertheless, a substantial portion of them are--many who left for better run universities, others who retired earlier than they had planned because of SFT. I am one of the latter.
