Planning continues for AAUP’s statewide conference on September 24 at Millsaps College in Jackson.  “Shared Governance in 21st Century Higher Education” will feature Roger Bowen, general secretary of the national organization.  Richard Crofts, commissioner of the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, is also expected to attend and speak.  


 


A series of sessions on topics ranging from chapter building, faculty handbooks, chapter work with faculty senates, “Committee A” work and more, will fill out the program.


 


Plan to attend and help protect and advance the principle of shared governance!  


 


The program will run from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 24 at Millsaps College.  AAUP members and non-members alike are encouraged to attend.  A $10 fee will help keep the state conference account in the black.

I'm in the process of collecting donations to send AtM to this AAUP conference.  Of all the participants he would get the most out of this.  AtM could also pass his wonderful ideas on to Commissioner Crofts and the AAUP members.  Please send your donation through the usual channels.

His alma mater, The University of Tennesse, has a strong and active AAUP chapter: AAUP--UTK Chapter


If the trolls would access the websites of other major universities they would see how important AAUP is at those schools.
