Mr. Wonderful's la Citation du Mois award: July 3
Permalink Closed

In view of its recently adopted switch from a weekly to a monthly format, the Mr. Wonderful organization has adopted a new name for the presentation. Now and henceforth it will be known as the Mr. Wonderful la Citation du Mois award. If our French translation is flawed, perhaps Thibadeaux, Boudreaux, or Monique de Guerre will set us straight.

During the past month, the selection committee poured through and enjoyed message board trivia. It learned that there are numerous popular songs about bananas, that talapia are raised and eaten all over the world, and that that the word "mugwump" is not just for political scientists and historians anymore. But the committee found none of those posts fit for the award. An occasional gem-of-a-post did appear. So, after spending an unprecedented number of hours in its deliberations, we are pleased to announce that this month's winner is . . . .

THE WINNER - View from a Distance: "This site is the chance to see history in the making, literature in its formative stages, Faculty at their brightest and most empassioned. It is truly inspiring. I wouldn't miss it for the world."

The selection committee wishes each of you a happy and safe 4th of July. Have a safe and happy holiday. And reflect upon the freedom which that great holiday depicts, without which a message board such as this could not exist.

For those who took a B.S. instead of a B.A. and may have been allowed to skip a foreign language, this is translated as "The more insane one is, the more one laughs."

What do you mean by that, Joe Bob?

"History in the making" = a wonderful new era for USM is on the horizon.

"Literature in its formative stages" = the magnificient posts of Jamella Lares and others.

"Faculty at their most empassioned" = many dedicated faculty members contributing to this board.

All of the above = hopefully, a forthcoming sequel to Exit 13.

I don't quite know what Joe Bob is talking about, but the selection commitee made a great selection this month.

We're definitely seeing history in the making and those of us who do not live in Hattiesburg are seeing it unfold right before our very eyes on this message board. A university under assault is trying to maintain its academic integrity. Thanks to Robert Campbell the struggle is being independently documented on his blogs.
