In an effort to increase communications regarding information technology projects, we would like to inform the University about the University Knowledge Plan (UKP) project. The UKP project is the integration of all web technologies into a single secure reliable system. It encompasses academic, student, research, and administrative computing in three primary categories:
1) Internet (public facing)
2) Intranet (internal to Southern Miss)
3) Extranet (collaborations with strategic partners or external affiliations).

The UKP Project is continuing towards the next phase which includes a communications strategy and plan. This email is the first step in making sure the University is knowledgeable about the project and is kept informed on future involvement. The UKP Communications Team will be developing communication activities, as needed, using various media vehicles. Please look for further information on the benefits and progress of this project, as well as other IT projects, planned for the future.
