Mag, I guess "possibly" might be an answer to your question. Someone else posted the other day that with at least 100 FTE in faculty attrition since Thames took over, he has (estimated) at least $7.5 million in "slush fund" or "play" money to work with annually (since these lines are still around). That's alot of Warren Paving, and more, I guess, and will continue to be so as long as he's here. Probably the real reason he wanted the last year and the extra year.

Lose one in twenty faculty lines. Dome snorfs up the line. You've got five percent less money but your budget didn't get cut. Got that? Any questions? Even Lassen could say this with a straight face. In his case he might even believe it.
