$ amount for promotion

I have always been told that the $ amount for promotion from assistant to associate is $5,000. This year it is $4,000. Was I misinformed or has it always been the $4000 amount?

Bob,

I'm so old that the promotion raise was $3,500 when I went through the process. I think it has gone up to $5,000. Grab a copy of this year's budget (in the library) and look for your colleagues who were promoted last AY. The published budget will not in parenthetical notation the amount of raise and the reason. Even though many received raises last year, it should be easy to spot a few. Check a big department like Psychology. We all respect a report on your research.

Major differences in starting pay by dept and by College.  CoB has lightest teaching loads and largest pay.
