First rat off the ship?

Now that the SS Shelbo is going down by the stern, who will be the first rat to jump (Lisa Lickspittle already took one one of the life rafts...)?

I'll put my money on that frat guy Lassen. He's not as dumb as Grimes, Exline or Moore...

Nope, he's gonna hang on saying "Yes Boss" right up until he thinks he can safely execute the change in command.  He's wanted to be "Cap'n" all along.

What is wrong with being a "Frat Guy"?  I think Mr. Lassen has done good things for our University

Lets see B.S.- Southern Miss, MD -Johns Hopkins, and surgical fellowship at Mayo Clinic.  I dont think Frat guys are very dumb.  I am guessing you are one of those guys who hated frat guys, because they stole your girlfriend.  They prob wouldn't let you go to their functions either.  My Fraternity Brothers and I are still very close.  We did drink some beer back then, but it didn't hold us back from anything.  If anything it opened alot of doors.  Look at the world leaders and CEOs of today.  Most of them are Frat Guys.  I hope in the future you will be more open minded.

Y'all, the fraternity or not fight was held the other night. Could we skip a replay?

My vote for the first to jump ship is Kenbot. He is singularly unqualified by virtue of credentials and actions for his numerous positions. He knows that and will move into a position with private business or a for-profit technical college. He has no career future in higher education. I see him pounding pavement as a salesman for some Louisiana-based chemical co.

So proud of myself for having made an accurate prediction a couple of weeks ago when Darth Mader 's departure was announced. I predicted then that she knew Thames would not be renewed and she was gettin' out while the gettin' was good. Now if I could only predict lotto numbers I wouldn't have to worry about this stuff.

These aren't Lassen's credentials, are they? As for fraternity membership, my time as a "greek" in college on the east coast was invaluable for me as a student and as a person. Its not all partying. That's what the public sees. They don't see brothers heading into the library, studying together, being active in campus activities and the like.

Mr. Lassen is not an MD, is he? If this person got into Johns Hopkins from USM, he spent more time in the library than at parties, for sure.

Thanks, LVN.  I didn't find it very helpful, even the first go around.

You think the rest of us don't head to the library with friends, form study groups, actively participate in campus activities? And partying is not reserved for fraternity members.

It was a joke son.  I am a frat guy too.  I just couldn't resist the chance to quote Animal House.  Forgive me

No big deal.  I just wanted you to see that I was in a Fraternity at USM and did very well.  We did party, but did some really good things too.   I did have to study alot to get into Johns Hopkins, but my frat didn't hold me back.  Have a great summer

Check out the "IHL Painted into a Corner Thread".  It appears that some of the rats (deans) have migrated from the hold to at least the upper decks.  Mabe some of the more "trustworthy" deans have been less loyal of late to SFT than it would appear.

Now if the faculty doesn't trust their deans and SFT doesn't trust them anymore.  Well maybe at least they trust one another.  This may be an interesting "band of brothers" to watch in coming months.

Actually, a rather formidable force when they're aligned.  Just ask Shelby what happens when all five tell the commissioner the same thing.  Look for some serious "divide and conquer" techniques from the round house in the coming months.  Eliminating the dean's meeting is step 1.

Are there any lessons from history to help us understand this phenomenon?

The deans also meet just among themselves.

Not a problem.  Like I said, I just couldn't resist the Dean Wormer quote.  I did alright too, despite the fact that I was in a fraternity at USM.  In fact, my grades improved after I pledged a fraternity.  I think I am in the minority, but they did improve.  Fraternities are like most things.  People hold extreme views about them.  You either love them or hate them, but there isn't a middle ground.  Certainly fraternities do good things and often they do stupid, irresponsible things.  But what gets the most attention is the latter.

Good luck in Take care.
