L and P update: Klumb Fails, Thames Thrashes

I've posted an update on Liberty and Power about last Friday's closed session of the Board and Thames' efforts to save his presidency with his $14,000 brochure.

I'm slightly more optimistic than I was a week ago, though I would like to see a stronger margin against Thames on the Board than the 7-5 that seems most likely at the present time.

At least the wild assertions that Thames jrecently made in his Wayne County News speech suggest that he is getting desperate.

I've still need to get back and finish the Toy McLaughlin story.  Barring a new outburst of boneheadedness, that will be next.

Robert, excellent job.  At the end, do you suppose Thames meant that 98% of frosh from '03-'04 returned for '04-'05?  Even if, I bet the stat is way off.

best practices--see my comment on another thread about the 98% figure. it refers to freshman honors students.

scm,

If the 98% refers to freshman honors students, Thames either misspoke or was misquoted.

rc--i agree. given it was a presentation at a group in the Waynesboro area, i'm not sure who the local paper hires as reporters. my reading of the story indicates the reporter took notes at the meeting; didn't necessarily interview individually. contextually (according to the story) it is consistent with the brochure and what i've heard on campus about honors.

BP, please see my comment on another thread and change your name.  Thanks.
