Saturday's Clarion-Ledger contained an item about Noel Polk. It said that he has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to lecture in Poland on Eudora Welty and William Faulkner. The article made very clear that he is affiliated with Mississippi State University. When I read that article, I thought to myself, "It could have been the University of Southern Mississippi's Noel Polk." And then I thought that when Texas A&M's Gary Stringer presents at major conferences, it could have been . . . . well, you know I'm trying to say.
Meanwhile, Stringer continues to work on what has been described as one of the most important works in 17this century literary scholarship going on today. Wallace leaves. And Polk has a Fullbright.
