Kudos to the CL! This is the strongest editorial to date and beautifully timed.

I like the editorial, but fully expect Klumb & The Gang to defy every suggestion in it this morning.

Someone needs to point out to the CL that SFT was not allowed to fire two professors. The Sun Herald had it right. He attempted to fire two professors.

I think that statement is pretty facutal. They are no longer employed at USM. After the hearings they were not given the option to return to USM. Now, they were compensated. Much like what we in the private sector refer to as a "Golden Parachute", but nevertheless, they are not getting ready for finals at USM today.

Yep, KK. SFT managed to "fire" one of the most respected literary scholars in the country. Managed to ruin his life by driving him away to that horrible Tier One university in the horrible state of Texas. Managed to drive the other into the arms of that awful Tier One university Tulane.

Last time I looked at the agreement, they left of their own volition, taking a sizable portion of USM's money with them. Get a life.

Bash away at me if it makes you feel better. What I don't understand is how you guys drive people away from you cause. I am not a Thames fan or supporter....but if I say anything that is not 100% party line here, you guys jump on me. It is easy too see why you guys have little support outside of your own.

Continue to bash me if it makes you guys feel better, I know you're not really mad at me.

Aw, KK, don't be so sensitive. Nobody is bashing you. They just corrected or contradicted something you said. Just like you corrected or contradicted what was said before. That ain't bashing.

KK, you must be out of touch with what is going on in the community. The community support has shifted away from SFT. Maybe the community still doesn't embrace "those liberal, lazy faculty", but they now know SFT is no manager of people and must go to save USM. In that they support the faculty opinion. I think the papers are just reflecting what is understood by everyone, except maybe the IHL Board. We will all know in a couple of weeks if they too get it.

KK, I must agree with the earlier post, we're not bashing you, many times comments are made out of frustration and despair. Today (Friday May 6th) is filled with thoughts of what's going on up at the IHL meeting and most of us have a feeling of hopelessness. I admit, I find most of your posts on the point and interesting from a community/business prespective.
