It appears that Dr. Davidson needs to be enlightened as to what is NOT going satisfactorily at USM. What would you tell him? Your thoughts, please.

I think "The Whole Letter" sent in February pretty much sums up what is unsatisfactory at USM.  That thread contains the letter.

Correct Amy.  Of course since the letter was written we had a few more "stupid" things, such as the President of the USM Foundation stating and the apologizing for joking about shooting people.  He also attacked the faculty in a public forum.  Now we have the Coast issue of teaching Math course in five(5) hour slots one day a week for 8 weeks.  Better start reading fast because the list grows each day (hour?).

Don't forget to include on your list of unsatisfactory things the following item:  Faculty who have nothing better to do than gripe and complain about how bad things are at USM.

According to conspiracy theory, it makes perfect sense that Dr. Davidson would think things are "going satisfactory" at USM. Remember, in conspiracy theory, up is down, right is left & "satisfactory" means "going to hell in a bucket."

Well, Van Thames, what do you suggest the faculty do?  They are desperately trying to get the public and IHL Board informed of a continuing disaster.  I would think it is their responsibility to the public, university and profession to do exactly what they have been doing.  Your use of words like "gripe" and "complain" indicates you haven't read enough to inform yourself of what is happening at USM.  Perhaps they haven't been loud enough if people like you are still not receiving a clear message.

This PM update just appeared in the HA. You have to wonder how the any rational board member can claim all is "satisfactory" with stories like this in the press. Expect the full story in tomorrow's Hattiesburg American just as the board meets.
