I have some serious catching up to do at Liberty and Power. Since students are trying to finish their Experimental Psychology projects and I've been juggling term paper drafts and tests, time has been scarce... but here's the first installment.
Here I say a few things about my visit to USM, and about the departure of Lisa Mader.
The story of Marcus Raines and Toy McLaughlin will have to wait for another installment, as will a shorter item on Trent Lott's interview last Sunday with the Sun Herald. Maybe tomorrow--it depends on how the tests go.
Here's my favorite passage from another in a long series of excellent articles:
Thames evidently feels some urgency about hiring a new spokesperson:
"But now we need to find an extremely competent person to replace her," Thames said. "We'll start meeting next week and then start advertising to find a top flight PR person."
But why would anyone want to step into that job, while Thames is still president but his days appear numbered? Failing to toe the Thamesian line will get the new PR person fired instantly. Toeing it faithfully it will insure that the PR person will be replaced as soon as Thames' successor arrives.
