Not really, the big, bold, red headline is a reference to Sex offenders but it does catch the eye, especially when the picture beneath it is of Shelby Thames.
An article titled "President Thames' fate in hands of the College Board" in today's Independent provides insight but no speculation about when and if Shelby will get ousted. Identifies four directions that the recommendation resulting from Dr. Crofts' investigation could take:
Four-year extension of Thames contract
Extension for Thames of less than four years
Thames' retirement and return to polymer science
Thames' full retirement
The article seems to commend Commissioner Crofts for being very thorough in his investigation "...Crofts has examined records, interviewed faculty and staff, and conferred with former members of the Board" but also acknowledges that Thames' supporters have been very active "Crofts has received numerous telephone calls, emails, and letters from friends of the President who support a four-year renewal."
An interesting explanation for what other posters have noted as an unusual level of quiet on the home PR front is this:
"...Board members hve received packets containing emails, letters, and inventories of telephone calls University officials say have been recceived in support of Dr. Thames' presidency."
"The packets were distributed by Lisa Mader, public affairs director for the university."
Ms Mader seems to misunderstand her job. She is paid a very handsome salary to represent the UNIVERSITY to the press and the public. It is not her job to be the personal PR agent for Dr. Thames. This would be true of anyone in her position and of any president.

But wasn't Mr. Chain very instrumental in the fact that SFT was hired in the first place?
I won't guess what motivates the power mongers, but my gratitude is one thing that I can ration as I please. I have no "need" to thank him. At best, any blame or credit will all just sort of balance out.

Wonder if they read the material. They obviously didn't read the reports the senate sent forward. They didn't read faculty concerns about the enrollment scam, etc. etc. etc. etc.
