Thanks Info. I didn't see any mention of the "new proposed policy" concerning the annual evaluation of presidents. I thought it would be here:

But as you see there is nothing. What's up?"
Is it possible that Klumb squashed Crofts attempt to "squeeze" Shelby?
Yes, you are right. They have to fill up the Trent Lott building. There could be several things happening because no one wants to cross Senator Lott. No use speculating however. It could be any number of under the table deals (uh, compromises.) Also they may be waiting until they change Presidents to deal with USMs Presidential issues. Ah, politics.

Back in either February or March, it was reported that Rex Gandy went before the IHL to request the School of Computing Sciences. We know of an individual that has basically been offered employment for one of the new programs in the School pending approval by the IHL at the April meeting. It would seem that SACS is probably being kept in the dark, again.
Thanks. One thing I do know is that the Technology programs have been reorganized. I think they formed the School of Construction Technology and another school whose name I'm not sure. It may be School of Computing. But none of these are new programs, just a shifting of the existing programs/departments into Schools.

There will be at least one new program in the School of Computing Sciences and it will be a Software Engineering program.

I thought there already was a "Software Engineering Technology" Program. I thought it was part of the Computer Engineering Tech. Program. I could be wrong and will now check the USM site. Thanks Already Reported.
"The School of Engineering Technology offers six undergraduate programs with direct application to industry. The five Engineering Technology programs listed below are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (TAC of ABET), 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202, telephone (410) 347-7700.
Architectural Engineering Technology
Computer Engineering Technology
Construction Engineering Technology
Electronics Engineering Technology
Industrial Engineering Technology
The school also offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering Technology."
I've never before known a university where so many knew so little about so much. Sometimes I wonder if the faculty as a whole is deliberately kept in the dark.

My understanding is that this Software Engineering program will be significantly different from the existing Software Engineering Technology program. The individual that has been discussing employment with them has degrees in Computer Science and bunches of experience teaching programming. My understanding is that this is probably the rebirth of what was once referred to as the "Applied Computer Science" degree. The existing Software Engineering Technology program was part of the first round of destruction quietly perpetrated by King Shelby. My understanding is that all of the Engineering Technology programs have been hurting since he ascended his royal throne.
i've heard that the changes will be a new school of computing which will include in it computer science, etc. as well as the engineering technology programs. the construction programs will become a new department. geography and geology are going to be merged as well. the engineering tech programs suffer one problem--faculty credentials. remember one thing--SACS trumps ABET.

You commented once before on your interpretation of the difference between "School" and "College" nomenclature. Is your usage of "School" today significant? Is a new "College" being formed or is this new "School" an entity within the CoST??
