Gregg Lassen was the focus of a lengthy piece on WDAM news tonight, talking about converting the power plant into a restaurant. For those of you who are wondering what the work is about between the textbook center and the power plant --- they are converting the area into a New Orleans style courtyard for students and their profs to hang out in. Lassen is very excited about helping transform Southern Miss.

How many times do I have to tell you people? I did NOT sweep the g----mn accounts! I simply didn't take the step of putting the money back in them at the end of the year.
Now, here are 10 monopoly bills for $1 each. If I give you $3 and at the end of the year you have 2 left and they come back into the general fund, it's not sweeping just because I don't give them back to you. I did NOT sweep the da** accounts!

My department stopped funding conference travel last month. Faculty were also told not to expect full funding for previously-approved travel.

What? You mean the conference organizers won't accept Monopoly money? Maybe someone in the dome can arrange for your travel on Golden Eagle One.

I would remind you that the name of the first aircraft of the USM fleet is "Lucky Shelby," after my friend Charles Lindbergh's nickname, "Lucky Lindy." The second addition to our fleet, a slightly used Boeing 727 outfitted for trans-oceanic flight, will be christened "The Spirit of Hattiesburg," reminiscent of Lindy's "Spirit of St. Louis." With the Boeing at his disposal, Dr. Thames will be able to vastly expand both his business and good will missions on behalf of USM. Plans presently on the drawing board for Dr. Thames and his staff include university fact-finding trips to Gulfport, D'LO, Las Vegas, Maui, Monaco, Paris, Rome, Rio, Nassau, and Tahiti.
