LE got a commitment over the weekend from a JUCO kid in Iowa.  His strategy is being spelled out now --- go large in the JUCO ranks and avoid Mississippi kids like the plague.  He is reportedly out in California still, where he is scoping kids and colleges.

His MO is starting resemble what was taking place at New Mexico State in Las Cruces in the mid to late 1990s.  Heavy JUCO recruiting.

Expect some more cuts off his current roster to be announced as signing day approaches.  He is cleaning house for these new arrivals.  One last note.  After leaving Cali he is expected to travel to Europe.  On his last coaches show (tv) with John Cox, he said he has every intention of signing at least one European player.  James Green couldn't get Giannini to fund any travel beyond Yazoo City, but LE gets plane fare to Belgrade?  Doesn't seem right, does it?

Heavy JUCO recruiting is a sign that a head coach is looking for a quick fix & isn't really interested in building the program over the long haul.

I could belabor the issue: heavy JUCO recruiting means that the coach may not be all that concerned with the overall academic success of his program & it means that the coach has been told to produce immediate results "or else."

This illustrates to me that Eustachy isn't quite the great coach he was touted to be. He played out Tim Floyd's recruits at Iowa State & fell on hard times. Now, he doesn't have a lot of Green's recruits to play out, since he's run the better ones off.

There are reasons that "good athletes" play JUCO ball & not many of them are "good" reasons. The most common is academic.
