I don't want to depress readers on this board, but on another thread the idea arose as to what would occur if SFT was given a second term. The question is: In May, if the IHL Board extended Thames' contract for another 4 or 5 years, what would happened?
I can't imagine the depression among faculty, students, staff and community. It will be too late for faculty to find new positions before fall semester. Would students leave? Financial and geographic considerations are why most students are here. I sure hope the immense depression doesn't result in suicides. Can you imagine 4 more years of this?
In the face of adversity we have to look towards hope, change, and growth. This is the second time you've mentioned suicide. Please -- stop.
If anyone is that depressed, over this or any other situation, they need professional help. Those older among us know that everything changes with time.
No matter what, nothing at USM is worth a life.
Your life does not belong to Shelby Thames; it is not his to destroy. It belongs to God; it is His to use.
If the new IHL rules are approved, even if Shelby gets four more years, won't he be subject to year-by-year review? And, given his propensity for doing stupid things, wouldn't it be likely that he would fail one of those reviews?
Obviously I hope that he will fail the very next review -- the one coming shortly.
