Before the Warren Paving Meeting, this board was lively and filled with uncensored discussion. Now that "local businesspeople" are viewing the board, no one wants to take a stand and say anything. That's why we have so many trolls on the board --- the board is wide open and ready for the taking. If posters stop acting scared that a business person will not like what they have to say and just say it, then we will have fewer problems, in my opinion. What we have here is a version of the Heisenberg Principle for internet message boards. Stop being wishy-washy.

Billy-Joe-Jim-Bob, just about everything that needs to be said has been said - until the next debacle. I'm looking at my clock now and, based on the frequecy with which past USM debacles have occurred, that could be any moment now.

I almost have to agree with you. Prior to the big bidness meeting, we didn't have phrases here like Metaphor alert, we knew we weren't serious. The discussions were livelier, more open. Now that we know that the business community is reading the board, and I for one am happy about that it opens up dialogue, we are being more cautious in what we say. Is it fear, hell I don't know, I do know that we are more careful. That in the long run will defeat us, we need to have our voices heard. If the business community doesn't like that, too bad. It is a two way street, both sides have the right to be heard, and if we allow the business side to squelch our voices we are doomed.
So, to Mr. Mixon and whom ever else read the board and are pro Thames, you can kiss my grits. I'll say what I want, when I want. To the business leaders who are pro USM welcome, we want to hear what you have to say. Doesn't mean we will like it, and vise versa I'm sure, but you are welcome here. For that fact, Mr. Mixon can post here, even he has the right to be heard.
If I wish to kick a post, I will. If I want to scream bloody murder, I will, if I want to go on a rampage in my post I will. If you misinterpret my words, that is your problem, not mine.

B-J-J-B, I'm not afraid of the devil himself, and I'm da*mnd not afraid of anybody who was at the Warren Paving meeting, including any who might be viewing this board at this very minute. You may not be aware that the university was on Spring break this past week.
A very dear friend of the de Guerre family frequently admonishes that one should only fear le bon Dieu. That is not to say evil will not come, but when we walk in the light, we do not need to fear. One finds this a very sustaining thought.
I hope no one thought I was opposed to kicking posts. I've done it myself. I was just in a very grouchy frame of mind and all the sports references were getting to me. Sorry if that annoyed any of my good friends on the board. It is certainly not a major issue.

As a point of suggestion, I would say that the aggravation you felt is like what some feel when they don't get an inside joke, a particular allusion, or a foreign phrase.
However, as some have suggested, this board shouldn't be dumbed down to meet a broader audience. In accordance with that pronouncement, i will begin kicking threads at random using ONLY sports names. You can either educate yourself on soccer, football, rugby, Aussie rules, etc., or you can continue to be mired in ignorance.

Well, I don't mind insulting those who deserve it - like the bidness meeting organizers. Go read my responses to their accusation that I called for violence against supporters of Shelby.
To borrow from the singer/songwriter Bruce Cockburn, this is how I feel about the organizers of that meeting:
See the paid-off local bottom feeders Passing themselves off as leaders Kiss the ladies shake hands with the fellows Open for business like a cheap bordello
And they call it democracy
