This is just a reminder that the next PUC meeting is Wednesday, March 23 for all of you who want to attend what should be a very interesting meeting. This is the meeting that was rescheduled from earlier this month. According to the Faculty Senate listserv Anne Wallace will be out of town, but will have a proxy attending for her. I haven't seen the agenda, but there could be many interesting issues raised (from the IHL Board's new draft operating policy to the meeting at the Paving Co). In addition, according to the Hattiesburg American, this will be Kevin Walters last week and so his last PUC meeting if he attends.
Maybe the PUC members can question SFT or Joan Exline about the SAT data reported at the closed Paving Co. meeting. They could ask about the discrepancies between that data and what the Fact Book says and how those dispute what the IHL reports. See the threads "SAT Trend" and "ACT suspicions confirmed"

And, question the misuse of the University Seal (see the thread Use of University Seal on page two of the board) in the full page ad funded by private business people.

Early Riser,
Sometimes Myron Henry or Anne Wallace post the agenda on the Faculty Senate listserv. Senators share this with their faculty. I haven't heard anything about an agenda. I do know that Anne will be represented by a proxy. I assume (and hope) Kelvin Walters will attend.
"...the President's Council was brief today, and we will not meet again until May. I will try to write a brief summary (from my point of view) by this evening. Thanks. Myron"
I obviously missed something here. Why is Kevin Walters leaving? What the H*** is happening? The HA's reason and his real reason would be appreciated. Thanks
We hardly ever know the "real" reasons for anything. However, I chatted briefly with KW at the IHL meeting last week and he seemed genuinely excited about his move. I used to live up that way; mostly just talked about the area.
The stated reason is to work for the Williamson County version of the Tennessean. He had a column in the print version of Sunday's HA talking about it.
Kevin interviewed for the new position a while back, around Christmas if I remember correctly. However he didn’t yet have an offer when word leaked out on this board that he was leaving. I know he was upset that this leaked and Robert Campbell picked it up in his blog. (Robert may want to discuss this part.) He was afraid he wouldn't get the offer. The paper was finally able to make an offer which he accepted a few weeks ago.
Of course he is happy since it's a big step up to big city paper.
After it was first mentioned here that Kevin Walters was putting his house up for sale, leaving the American, and taking a job in TN, I made a brief reference to the prospective move in an entry on Liberty and Power. (This was back in January when the American had temporarily quit running stories on the USM crisis--the dry spell lasted less than 3 weeks).
Mr. Walters asked me to take that reference off my blog entry and I did.

Waiting on Myron to post his impressions on the listserv . . . there are also usually minutes published as well. NIt might not happen quickly, however.
