Less public, more out-of-the-way: Yes
More space? No. If I remember correctly, the meeting rooms at Coke are larger.
However, I think one of the reasons (unpublished, of course) is that Coca-Cola Corporate told them to stay out of the whole mess and not take sides. You lose less customers that way.

I suspect that this is closer to the truth than any other of the reasons that have been suggested.

The very need to control who attended the meeting bespeaks the weakness of the organizers. And the extraordinary measures used to control entrance compounds that idea.
Seems to me this is an example of "I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts." Only, in this case, the mindset seems to have been "Don't let anyone in who might disagree with my thinking and confuse me with the facts."

By moving it to a less central location, they were able to control access (using Warren Paving employees) as well as reduce the possibility that it would attract a crowd of uninvited rabble. It's even possible that the original Coca-Cola plant location was a decoy.

I think I am glad we decided not to go out to the meeting yesterday . . . I think it would have been used against us. The pictures were all the meeting and the participants -- but I think the picture created was not a good one. The managed to look scheming, a bit deceitful, and not all that competent . . . . and they managed to do it all by themselves.

No wonder they are supporters/allies of Thames and his administrative sycophants. Birds of a feather...

I totally agree; the faculty were better served having not been present at this meeting. I wonder if the organizers truly believe that what they did was in the best interest of the University??? Do you guys (the organizers) truly believe this??
This was a totally stupid move. They are almost asking to remove Shelby. The IHL Board has egos and they won't be dictated to by the H'burg folks. For one, USM is the university they like to bitch slap around. Thanks to your minions, kiss your butt goodbye SFT. So stupid, the last three years. So profoundly stupid. The meeting, as the CIA calls it, will be blow back. Dude, if you need some advice give me a call. Here's a freebie: Fire that Mader chick.
Professor Lares probably has grounds for a slander suit, as this was done publicly, though I'd be surprized to see her go forward with that. At the very least she is owed an apology.
I never cease to be appalled. If it is true that Dr. Lares' name was brought up in terms of posts threatening violence, then the playing loose with facts has gone to a newly base level. As those who visit this board regularly know, Jameela's posts are always deeply thoughtful and tempered. Unbelievable!
