Many of you on this board still seem to question whether I'm real. I am at a loss as to how to handle this, and I have the impression that I am not being taken seriously. I'm afraid we're getting off on the wrong foot, and I deeply regret that since we all have Southern's best interests at heart. I have an idea. I'll be in Hattiesburg this weekend inspecting several possibilities for my temporary campus office, and looking at houses with the little woman. I'll be occupied most of that time, but if any of you are interested, I'd be willing to meet with you on Friday or Saturday evening. I could tell you a bit more about my inspirational personal story, and explain my vision for Mississippi Southern, which I share with my friend Dr. Thames.
What would you all think about having a little informal get-together in the meeting room at Luby's Cafeteria in that new mall? I understand they have a big selection of home made pies and sweet tea like your grandma used to make. The women folk could shop in the mall while we men discuss serious matters. Please let me know if you're interested, and which day you'd prefer, as soon as possible. I'll need to get a head count, and have my secretary make name tags and reserve the meeting room. Heck, I'll even pay for our refreshments out of my USM entertainment allowance. I hope to see ya'all there.
I don't know what's become of my manners. I neglected to mention earlier that my trusted secretary of many years, Miss Bettie Sue Wurstheimer, will be joining me in the College of Business at Southern. Due to the well publicized financial constraints, there wasn't enough wiggle room in the COB budget for an additional secretary. Consequently, Miss Wurstheimer has been hired as an Associate Professor of Business Administration. She will teach four graduate courses in Economic Development in addition to maintaining her duties as my secretary. Dr. Thames and I believe this will be a perfectly great arrangement for all of us. I hope you'll join me in welcoming Professor Wurstheimer to Hattiesburg and the COB and ED faculty.

W.J.,
So now you're claiming this message is bogus, and you're not going to spring for pie and drinks? Gol durn it! That's not a good way to win your way into our hearts good buddy. Don't think this will be soon forgotten. Down in these parts, we keep our promises.
