1) TROLL POSTS. The more posts from Dana (aka Albert) and Lisa (aka WJ Johnson) et alia we see the more we know we are winning. The more they do to infect and influence this board, the more room they take up, and the more dissention they sow the more we know that they are RUNNING SCARED!!!! For every troll post you read here you can add a factor of ten to the odds that we have them by the short hairs people!! But really now. Would you rather write to a newspaper, a local business, a pal about whats going on here or waste your time reading and posting to the people who want you to waste your time? They can be naive poorly strategized fools but we dont have to be. Why? Because we are winning people. Keep it up. Smoke is rising from the dome at last.
2) POSSIBLE CHANGE OF VENUE.If the rumor that the venue has changed from Coke to the local I-inherited-daddy's-bidness place is true than you can be damn sure we are winning. I know for a fact that American corporations, the real business world dependent on consumers, runs from controversy like a troll running to this board. In H'burg of course there are no consumers, there are only exclusive contracts bestowed by one friend to another. Boycotts dont matter in a closed economy or in a feudal state. But big deal. What does matter is politics. And no one likes to see their name villified in the paper. There is much fear!!!!! We are winning. Pressure works, even in an and with an oligarchy.
3)THE COKE MEETING ITSELF. Even if the rumor about a change of venue is not true the fact of the meeting being held at all is proof that we are winning. No need for a meeting if your guy's not going down like a fat punctured baloon.
4)LETTERS TO THE EDITOR, NEWSPAPER COVERAGE.For two days now the local press is only reporting public views on this issue. LOOKS LIKE ITS NEGATIVE ON THE FAT LITTLE GUY NOW!!!
SUGGESTIONS: THe multiple troll postings are a kind of mind game to demoralize and depress the good guys. Dont be fooled by organized. They have no need for mind games unless they feel their ship a-sinking. So, keep up the public pressure. Be sure its public. Every possible chance. Press conferences. Letters. Everything you can do. It IS working. And most of all: Do not respond to the trolls. Their job is to demoralize. They also like to make sure we waste our time with them rather than with the real work of public relations, organizing, etc. The pressure must continue in public all the time non stop. It is clearly working. Be positive. Be optimistic.
Remember: for every troll post you can add a factor of ten to the odds in favor of our side. Their silence is our measure: The louder they become the more successful we know we have been. And by the way, you can be sure they will respond to this post because simply by existing they prove over and over that they are too dumb, and too politically naieve not to!
While I like the positive tone of your post, I have an issue or two with it.
1) Trolls posts have spiked before. I think this is just another cyclical movement.
2)-3) The real victory would have been 225 of the 250 invitees returning their invitations with letters outlining why they support the faculty position, since we are their neighbors, patients, fellow churchgoers, friends, etc.
4) The letters to the editor are being written by the same people who always write them. I don't see a lot of "Joe Average" Hattiesburg residents writing these letters.
There is a cloud over Hattiesburg that will not lift until Thames is gone.

Sure there is a cloud. Despair, gloom etc. But remember this: in politics like this there is nothing "natural" or "cyclical", no matter how petty everything is deliberate. The more our morale and our sense of power can be derailed the more the real power can maintain its current hold on things. So is this a cyclical spike in trolls? maybe. But my friend in such stuggles even the petty seems like a good bet. I am sure there is nothing accidental about rumors, johnson, albert et alia.
Second, you or I could invite 250 people right now. Big deal. Anyone can. The test is who will actually show up? And even then why did they show up? That is again all about politics. So there is a report of 250 invitations. It means someone had 37 cents times 250 to spend. That is ALL it means today. What it will mean on Thursday remains to be seen. So, dont be fooled by ****poor spin machines.
Third, no editor in the country has to print any letter they dont want to print. It doesnt matter who writes it. It matters who prints it and when. Often letters are held by editors some times for as long as a month. They choose to run them only when they feel the timing is right. Again, no matter how petty, its always only politics. So sure the same old people right. Those who feel safe of course. But what really matters is that the press now feels safe in publishing them. That is the victory. Small. Maybe. But no one has to print a letter if they own the paper. Remember that. And they are under no obligation to run two letters to fill the whole column on the same day.
Finally, gloom and despair and end to all morale will serve only one purpose. To get you and everyone else out of the struggle. To make us give up. To say, yep its hopeless. Its an oligarchy. Democracy for 49 states but not here. Fine. Think that. Whose interest will it serve? Ours?

not ten minutes after this thread had been opened did there appear, count em, three and by now maybe even four seperate posts from Dana and Lisa (Albert and Johnson). HA! Gotcha! SCARED SCARED SCARED. CANT EVEN USE YOUR OWN REAL NAME EVEN THOUGH THINGS ARE SO GOOD AROUND HERE. HA HA HA

Oscar, who do you expect to write them? The whole point is "Joe Average" doesn't know what is going on and needs to be informed. SFT got some "Joe Averages" to write for their side, but it was a script prepared for all of them. They didn't know anything except what they were told to write. The public has wised up and now realize there is more to this than they were told by SFT. Now they are reading and learning.
In my experience, when the trolls come, change (for the better!) is usually not too far behind. They come when they sense a loss of power for their man.
Keep up the pressure, folks, and don't lose focus on the real issues (read Robert Campbell's wonderful recent L & P post if you need to rally yourselves!).
A troll is an enemy. I'm not convinced that WJJ is a troll. He is stirring up lots of issues and pulling out lots of important information. Many of his posts are outright satire. The whole "little woman" looking for a house, and meeting us a Luby's (think about it a minute) is a dead give away.
I will say to this poster, I think you've overdone it a bit. Fun's fun, but it's getting tiresome.

Tiresome? Not to worry LVN, old W.J. has left the premises. All is not lost however, for none other than Shelby F. Thames his own seff has emerged to post, and with a vengeance. I'd say more, but I'm afraid his people are tracing the origin of this message, and I must protect my family. By the way, what's wrong with Luby's? Some of my best friends dine there.
