This is one of your best reports ever, and it is the first place to which we should direct anyone who is entering this issue late and wants to know how it all got started. Many thanks!
Robert, after reading your very long Blog I now realize why my head is spinning. I forgot that all of that happened in such a short time. Faculty are becoming numb from the war that is being waged against them. Battle fatigue will be treated with a little R&R and back into the fight we go. I need to get my camera ready to take pictures at the big gathering on Thursday night. I can't get in, but I can stand by and take pictures of our "community leaders". I may even ask if they know the SACS guidelines before they decide on USM's future.

I hope that pictures will indeed be taken and that they will be posted here as part of a "hall of shame" exhibit.
This is a wonderful summary of a year of controversy. I cannot express how much we appreciate your perspective. Being in the middle of the battle, we do not have the opportunity to really step back and see the larger issues fitting together. Or if we do, by the time any of us have collected our thoughts, some other horror appears on the horizon. Any one of the major events should have been enough to stop the madness, and had we time to fully react , perhaps it would have.
My description of the events on March 5 of last year wasn't entirely accurate, so I've revised the first paragraph of this blog entry. Also corrected a typo and a couple of formatting mistakes.

I second Amy's sentiments, Bob. Your reporting helps us to see ourselves and the struggle from a vantage point outside the chaos. And it is a welcome reminder that we aren't alone.
