It would be the smartest move she ever made. And would explain why we haven't heard much from her lately. Can anyone confirm this?

Now that she has destroyed the integrity of the university relations office and Shelby's days are numbered, it would be in total keeping with her me-first sense of self-preservation to look for greener pastures before the ship disappears completely beneath the waves. She was handed the USM job without the normally required credentials of education, experience and proven ability, based on the political pressure of at least one person who helped Thames gain the presidency. This has been her MO in obtaining past jobs and likely will catapult her to her next plum position, leaving wreckage in her wake. Unbridled arrogance without portfolio.

First off... Bud Kirkpatrick was a     . I have dealt with him on several occasions. That however isn't why I am posting. If Mader is out, who will replace her? I wonder if it'll be internal or if they'll hire outside the university. I guess that'd me no more burbon cocktails before football games, nah, still get to have them.

Well well well, seems we have Big Brother watching us now. To who ever censored my statement. Did you have to leave it blank? You could have replaced it with a "not nice person" or "dork" or "unsavory character." Last time I checked the word I used pr.ck isn't considered a curse word.

Watch out boys and girls, the forum that screams free speech now will keep you from saying what you want. What makes you any different from Shelby himself? He does the exact same thing, keeps peopel from saying what they really feel.

What an interesting post.  Fill in the blank to suit yourself, huh? 

I have also worked with Bud on many occasions over the last ten years. Sometimes he could be pretty off the wall (the Eagle Water sold on campus was his idea, I'm told). Sometimes he was pretty impressed with his own importance, but he was always a straight shooter.  Looking back, I never, ever had the sense that he thought the university was the administration or vice versa. His actions and words were always for USM as a whole.  That is more likely because AKL and HF were articulate and confident enough to speak for themselves. 

SFT has to have a mouthpiece because he is so prone to the gaff.  "Still having fun." Can you imagine Lucas, Fleming, or even McCain uttering such idiocy?

But back to Bud.  I have seen him on several occasions since he was unceremoniously given the boot. Even though we talked at some length, he never once in any way criticized either the administration or his successor.  Pretty disappointing actually.  I'm like Dorothy Parker; if you can't say something nice, you should come sit by me.

Put aside everyone's personal feelings, pro or con, about Bud. You have a person who is almost an institution. You want rid of him. A couth, smart leader calls him in and PRIVATELY asks him to resign. He gets the nice send-off, the party, the accolades, and no one ever knows what the deal was. He gets to hold his head high, his age, service, and dignity are respected.
Of course we all know what was actually done. It was tacky and ugly. Employees as furniture. People's lives of no consequence. "What have you done for me today" the only standard.

I think she edits Update or whatever it's called now...Eagle Eye?
