IHL speaks against new USM programs

This afternoon WUSM reported that the IHL Board had decided that USM could not start any new programs at this time.  (I only caught one sentence of the story.)  Did anyone hear the whole story?  I imagine it will be in tomorrows HA.

10:00 edition just reported no new programs until probation is lifted. Specifically mentioned the executive MBA program being on hold. Kenbot will just have to be satisfied dismantling continuing education for the time being.

What about all of the hundreds of prospective students who had lined up to get their executive MBA?

They might want to check with William Carey College or the University of Phoenix.

I guess they'll just have to consider one of the zillions of other such programs nearby.

Did this program actually get the endorsement of USM's Graduate Council or Academic Council or whoever is approving new graduate programs at the moment? How about the iHL? Did they also give that program their blessings before it was put "on hold?"

Hasn't the Board been ready to approve just about anything that gets handed to it with Thames' signaure at the bottom?

From previous threads, I gather that the Executive MBA never went near the Academic Council or the Graduate Council--and wasn't going to going near them.

PS. Crofts seems to have won this battle, at least.

Robert,

Academic Council does not review graduate programs, only Graduate Council, so the Executive MBA would only have come to the GC
