A friend who teaches french at a prep school shared this story. If it's not true, it is at least plausible and sorta funny. She gave a student a zero for using Babelfish to translate a compostion. The young lady's irate parents came into school to meet with her and to express their outrage (the first step certainly before expecting the principal to serve up her head). The teacher patiently listened while the parents extolled the virtues of their daughter. Finally, when they ran out of steam she showed them their daughter's perfectly written essay -- in spanish!
