Be sure to read the Wall Street Journal article for last Wednesday profiling the president of Drexel University. He is raising the hackles of faculty and students by refusing to adequately fund the library, moving courses off-line so "technicians" can teach them, and increasing the student enrollment by whatever means possible. Sound familiar? Drexel is, of course, a private university and tuition drives a good deal of their revenue profile. The dorms and buildings are falling down, and only 75% of the faculty are full time, but he wants the university to be in the top 100 universities. At least he doesn't aspire to be 'wurl class'.
