How should USM observe the upcoming anniversary of the day Professors Frank Glamser and Gary Stringer found themselves locked out of their offices?
Why not lock SFT out of HIS office?
Well, actually changing the locks would be tricky to arrange; besides, there are far more efficient, effective, even innovative ways to make locks non-functional. But vandalism is not the way to go. The point would be made much more clearly by a significant number of individuals standing, silent and immobile, at the entrance to the university president's office suite, by their mere presence blocking or at least seriously impeding entry or exit.
The mood of participants in this blockade should be somber. Perhaps the day could be a day of silence on campus; at the very least, every class could begin with a few minutes of silent reflection on the meaning of what occurred a year ago. This will be the anniversary of a very sad day. This day must not be allowed to pass without many powerful statements regarding the outrageously disrespectful mistreatment of these professors on that day, and in the days and months that followed.
SFT deserves to be shamed for this action not only on its anniversary, but every day of the rest of his life.
On this note, Left (formerly Leaving Soon) writes to this message board for the last time.
We will miss you and the good ideas (like this one!) you impart. Hoping you will be drawn to post again.......maybe a celebratory post and maybe sooner rather than later......
Left----You probably will never read this, but maybe you'll talk to someone and they'll pass it along, as well as the messages to you from others on the board.
You have been a terrific colleague for us all. We will miss you very much.
Thanks.
And what a wonderful idea. SFT deserves the same sort of humiliation he dished out to those honorable men last year.
I understand your reasons for severing your membership (via postings etc.) with this group. My severance is close-by. Sometimes we can't give the rest of the members completely accurate responses as to why some of us have to be in an even less moderate-profile. I salute you, will talk to you not long from now, and want a celebratory dance at the Coming Out party that all of us will attend. Good friend, we shall meet again.
