Whether there is any delayed fallout from this Board meeting remains to be seen. But if Thames has been instructed to "pursue other opportunities," he and Mader (if she is still working for USM by then) will make the announcement soon enough.
One thing that is clear is that the Board doesn't want to be spending 90 or more minutes per meeting talking about Thames next month...and the month after that... and the month after that...
Here are some things that will pretty much require the Board to keep dealing with Thames and the messes he makes...
A Faculty Senate resolution of no confidence in Ken Malone.
A Faculty Senate resolution of no confidence in Jay Grimes. (I put Malone first because he matters so much more.)
Public revelations about the destruction of the School of Nursing.
A statement signed by faculty members who are putting in those extra hours on reaccreditation that they believe their efforts are going completely to waste, and will continue to go to waste so long as Thames is in power... and promising to quit unless Crofts is sent in.
Robert Campbell
PS. Here's one that doesn't require initiative from the faculty: Any move by Thames to get rid of Harold Doty will be amply resisted by Doty. The faculty will merely need to lend him their support.
Does anyone know of any departing nursing faculty members who would be willing to speak on the record to Kevin Walters? That will be the key to getting that story out.

Excellent suggestion! Is there any way they could speak without their identities being revealed? Kevin Walters would know who they are and that they are indeed nursing faculty, but would their identities have to be included in the story?
As long as they can provide solid information that can be corroborated by other sources then their names wouldn't have to be revealed. If Kevin Walters can go to Lisa Mader or the dean of the College of Health with specific questions that they'd have to comment on then it wouldn't be a problem, but that's why it's key to have departing faculty members instead of current. They would be less inclined to care if their names were affiliated with such a story.
Kay Lundy would be a great source. She's articulate, is still at USM, and has already publicly criticized the SFT regime.
Alternatively, Wanda Dubuisson, who left for greener pastures at William Carey, but had 25 years in at USM, might provide some insight to the whole mess.
Of course, the problems all started the day Thames fired the Dean of the "college of nursing," a Harvard-educated plum USM was extremely fortunate to get, and lumped nursing with allied health programs. What once was a flagship program is now a pile of s@@t.

Sharyn Janes, who left the Director's position and is now an Assistant Dean at LSU Health Sciences in NO. She is a good source of information

Brad Bond stepped down as provost last August. He's back in the history department. Brad did everything he could to try to remedy a hopeless situation. Don't pin this administration's problems on him.
BTW, he's not a dumbass. If you knew him, you'd know that.

Brad Bond is one of the good guys! He was the one who wrote the memo in 2002 warning SFT that we were not in compliance with SACs. Rumor is he stepped down/was fired as Assist. Provost because he was one of the few who was telling SFT things he didn't want to hear.....like the word NO! Brad Bond was not a YES man, he told you what he thought. SFT just didn't want to listen.
