Jackson, MS - During its emergency teleconference meeting today, the Mississippi Board of Trustees of State Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) met to discuss one Mississippi State University personnel matter and one related IHL personnel matter. As a result of the meeting, the Board accepted and approved Commissioner of Higher Education Dr. Thomas C. Meredith's request to voluntary step aside from his day-to-day duties during the State Auditor's investigation. Board President Amy Whitten will assume the Commissioner's responsibilities until the issue is resolved. No action was taken with regard to the Mississippi State University personnel matter.
