House Kills USM Casino Course Plans

This item is on tonight's (Feb. 10) WDAM website.  What implications, if any, does this have for USM?

Here's the Sun-Heralds report on the Casino bill:

The defeat of the casino-management bill isn't going to amount to much because USM and all the state's Univerisities have been prohibited from teaching casino management courses. Its a stupid ban. All we want to do is develop a a hotel-toursim program with an emphasis on the largest local industry down here. I don't see the yahoo's from Iuka turning down the tax money from casinos. They should let us train local people for management positions in the industry. Very hypocritical.

I am concerned that banning Hog-Dog fights might hurt USM's efforts to expand its athletic program :)

It actually passed late last night 71-50 but more than likely it will fail in the Senate.

I thought this was an attempt to protect MSU from further humilation at the hands of the University of Arkansas.

It is a stupid ban - private institutions will step in and state institutions will suffer.  Also, support of the arts will suffer - look how the Beau is supporting the upcoming Placido concert.
