Now they have done it! All you "fat cat" professors (and you know who you are) have now been put firmly in your place. Move on down the road and let those energetic young talented junior professors take your place. They aren't fat, and some don't even have cats.

Anyone pointed out to this dude that those who have moved on down the road (including the two he refers to) have moved to much better, more prestigious places?  I thought that was what SFT was bragging about--our folks are so good that other people want them.

This guy Sanford sounds like Qbert.  Anyone else agree?

Fat cat?  Obviously John Q. Public does not realize that we faculty are paid less at USM, on average, than State or Ole Miss - or that those two schools pay less than the southern region average - or that the southern region pays the least of any other region in the country.  We are the modern equivalent of indentured servants: serving a few years with little compensation and then leaving for those better real jobs elsewhere in America.

Speaking of cats - contrary to the Clarion-Ledger, the cat's evidently still got the Hattiesburg American's editorial tongue.

This guy has to be nuts to think that any intelligent young professor would risk coming to USM with SFT in charge.  To do so would be to risk career suicide (or homicide) for any number of reasons.

My exact thoughts as I was reading it.  If he's not Qbert, then he read this site and plagiarized Qbert. He would have had to work quickly, however, to do that.

Where are those WINDTALKERS? Methinks the talking-points worksheet has been duplicated and passed out again....

Yup, highly Qbertian: "young, energetic, motivated teachers."

Past letter writers for Thames have gone on about the negative qualities of the faculty members who oppose Thames, but have said next to nothing about the faculty members Thames would bring in.

Fat cat? D*mn you, Sanford! My family (wife and kids) have been here without the ridiculously useless "self-insured" medical insurance since we came here years ago, because I cannot afford it with my salary. We just hope that any family member does not seriously get sick.

We have long assumed that most pro-Thames letters were derived from a common set of "talking points" provided by the University administration. Qbert-Sanford represents a new, revised set of talking points.

My thoughts are that "Qbert" is a ghost writer for the office (Mader?) that provides talking points to prospective letter writers. Sanford is the first person to act on those talking points.

Hello!!!  Where are the "young, energetic, motivated professors" SFT would bring in?  There have been a large number of faculty moving on in the last two years, but the majority of those hired have been adjunct.  The real new hires are now polishing their vitas as fast as possible.

Remember that faculty are hired in a national market, and given the low salary levels here there must be something else to attract them.  Perhaps that something else would be a research area they are interested in and a senior faculty member was active in the area, or the other university benefits such as extrodinary lab facilities or good PhD students. Which of these do we offer?

"Move on down the road like those other two did a while back."

Hey Mr. Sanford from Columbia,

Did you say two faculty moved on down the road? Two? Well, Dude, I've got some news for you. Something like two hundred have moved on down the road. I''m sure that I'm no longer there. I still have nightmares about Nitchampburg.

My thoughts exactly.   This is the beginning of another orchestrated campaign.
