R.C., It is not in the body of the article itself. It is in small print just below the main headlines.

Hey, Roy, it's not your decision. Crofts sets the agenda:
301.0506 MEETING AGENDA
A formal agenda shall be prepared by the Commissioner for each official meeting of the Board, which shall be followed as the order of business without formal approval....
Board of Trustees, Institutions of Higher Learning, State of Mississippi POLICIES AND BYLAWS

Just how could Klumb make any informed comment if he has not yet read the resolution in its entirety?

Then don't depend on Mr. Klumb to put it before the board. Put it there yourselves. A copy of the letter should be sent via FedEx (to ensure proof of delivery) to every member of the IHL board individually.

I daresay Klumb hasn't made an informed comment about anything of substance in his adult life.
Who cares whether the Faculty Senate's resolution is on the Board's formal agenda or not? Klumb can't sequester the rest of the Trustees, or tell what they can read and what they can't.
Every time Klumb shoots off his mouth in public, he gives the other Board members a little more encouragement to make him their scapegoat, when they've finally had enough of Shelby Thames.

Every time Klumb shoots off his mouth in public, he makes other board members seem rational & measured. This is not necessarily a good thing. Remember, several other trustees are no more amenable to listening to USM faculty than Roy. But they appear rational by comparison. That is possibly why he does it.
If I were an MSU faculty member, I'd cringe every time Roy opens his mouth. He reinforces all the worst jokes about MSU graduates.
I know I'm not perfect, but from the way Klumb talks I do believe that I am a tad smarter than he. It is a shame that I do not even want to frame or hang my recently acheived dimploma because of those three silly signnatures. Roy Klumb Shelby Thames Jay Grimes I feel like I went to clown college because I have the three stooges signatures on my degree

Not to worry, t.o.a.c. - If we become Mississippi State University at Hattiesburg, maybe new diplomas will be issued.

Indeed. Faculty AND the many good alumni of State.
All it takes is one to perpetuate, justify and reinforce the stereotype.
I hear what you are saying, and can empathize with you. Now, why don't you send that same message to Roy Klumb and the rest of the IHL board? They need to hear from the students, and parents. I know you are recently graduated, but I'm sure you still have friends attending school there. Speak up, speak loud, speak with a unified voice.

His degree in ornamental horticulture from Mississippi State qualifies him to make such an assertion.

JPEF,
You are quite right--so long as Klumb and a majority of the Board remain on the same page.
But if Thames becomes too big a political liability for the other members of that majority, those Klumb and Klumber antics that afford them cover now will become the perfect excuse to hang him out to dry.
It's mob psychology and it's ugly...but I see no reason to doubt that it affects the Board.
One would think that the only reasonable response for Klumb to make is that it is inappropriate for the Board to comment until the IHL members have had a chance to meet and review the USM Faculty Senate letter and resolution. The other board members should be "mad as hell" for the way that the IHL President usurped their authority and voice.

From the H.A. article that appeared in the Clarion Ledger and posted in another thread:
" But the resolution will likely not be addressed at the board's February meeting because the agenda has already been set, said state College Board President Roy Klumb.
"I don't see any reason why we would address this at the next meeting," Klumb said."
