The I Witness computers have been working overtime in search of more of Shelby Thames's favorite words. Our three Kaypros, working as a multiprocessor array, have revealed that language from a year ago returned this past weekend.

Southern Miss officials await report on enrollment
...USM's enrollment in September was 16,662, but the official count was 15,919.
USM President Shelby Thames said Thursday the school will continue to recruit students for all its programs.
"Our plans are always to increase enrollment," he said. "We're aggressively recruiting students 12 months out of the year, and we will continue to do that.
"We were disappointed that we had that glitch in our system," he added, "but we're going to continue to recruit and do our jobs."

USM president blasts charges against Dvorak
...The allegation that Dvorak falsified documents relating to a tenured position with the University of Kentucky was made anonymously by someone who sent information to the chapter on Dec. 11, chapter president Frank Glamser said.
"I am very disappointed that such an allegation would be made," Thames said. "I do not believe that to be the case."

USM exec's background probed: VP's work for University of Kentucky questioned
...Southern Miss President Shelby Thames said officials have "verified that Dr. Dvorak's credentials are accurate" and added that he is "extremely disappointed that a very small group of faculty would attempt to discredit the impeccable credentials of someone who has given so much to our university."

Shelby Thames' Hattiesburg American interview
...Q: What was your reaction when you got the Faculty Senate vote? Who did you call first? A: My reaction was disappointment that the Faculty Senate, the body that's supposed to epitomize the deliberation and analysis of facts, getting all information before making a decision, they didn't do that. Did not at all do that. I was very disappointed because of that reason. I'm still disappointed. I'm disappointed that the faculty members at the University of Southern Mississippi would do something like that. (Thames didn't remember who he called first.)

Faculty ponders vote on Thames
..."We are doing so many positive things at Southern Miss," Thames said. "And it is very disappointing to me that there are some who continue to have this very negative attitude and will not acknowledge the great strides we've made in enrollment, federal funding, private support and campus-wide growth, synergy and community involvement."
I received a pretty interesting letter from the guy a couple of years back saying that he was "disappointed" about something right out of Bizarroworld. I will hang onto it, and we can someday discover if this was his first official use of the word (it's on the letterhead, dated several months out of whack, signed, and way beyond ridiculous).
