Greetings from the "Lady" this morning. After an exhaustive "meeting of the minds" last evening and having phone companies regret their "pay one price - talk as much as you like" programs, this week's winner was finally determined around 5 AM, 4AM, 3AM or 2AM, depending on one's geographical location. There were quite a few powerful postings this week, but these three in particular struck the fancy of the selection committee:
2nd Runner Up:Curmudgeon - "It always amazes me when people who are in the business world think they are experts on higher education. The fact of the matter is that when good universities (e.g., Sanford, Texas, MIT, Harvard) hire a new president, the faculty does not adjust to the new leadership. Quite the reverse is true. Shared governance is expected in higher education, and it is required by accrediting agencies . . . . At the best universities, the leadership serves almost at the pleasure of the faculty."
1st Runner Up:5 mg C11H17N202SNa - "This board is our water cooler, our beer after work, our faculty club where we always have our drink of coffee, our comfortable chair, and an endless supply of privacy AND free expression, all in one."
The Winner:Rudy Kazootie - "He just doesn't get it."
Congratulations to this week's recipients. And thank you, Cut to the Chase, for calling the selection committee's attention to Rudy Kazootie's five eloquent and winning words.
Thanks to the entire Mr. Wonderful organization. I am truly honored. And I'm looking forward to putting this on my CV - got to "pump it up," you know, any way I can.
