Passed onto me by one who is involved with NCATE at another institution:
In an NCATE visit at this other institution recently, the University of Southern Mississippi was brought up [we're KNOWN), and one of the NCATE examiners responded that "USM is the one with the crazy president" - on a closer inquiry of this the examiner stated 2 reasons (1) Getting rid of Carl Martray a true believer in shared governance and (2) the fact that faculty have made a mass exodus out of there.
Well, SFT, once again - you're quite an attention getter. You'd better brush up on how to hang onto a College of Education .
