Do you know what the PEC is? Its the Professional Education Council. It's an advisory body to the Dean of EPY, and consists of individuals and subcommittes involved in teacher education and other K-12 personnel throughout the university (except social work and nursing). The NCATE is the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education. It's apples and oranges with SACS. Why would you think it's the PEC's responsibility or mandate to run with the SACS ball, grasshopper?

To the best of my knowledge they are only related indirectly (someone correct me if I am wrong). Here's how. First, if we lose regional accreditation (SACS) NCATE (and APA and a zilliion other bodies on campus) will withdraw their accreditation. That is a good reason for getting off SACS probation ASAP. Second, the people working on both reports will draw from a few overlapping datasets (but most information in the respective reports will be different). Finally, there may be a couple of people who will be involved in both processes (the PEC has quite a few members, so that wouldn't be unexpected). If you know something else, fill me in and I'll check it out.

NCATE and SACS Are like Apples and Oranges just like Love and Marriage go together like a Horse and Carriage. This I tell you, Brother. You can't have one without the other!

Educator--patience child. Read my post above. Grasshopper's point was that the PEC should be a group that is responsible for directly dealing with SACS. As the wonderfully famous and erudite Sir (or Madame) Educator, you are clearly aware of PEC's scope and function.

Read the PEC bylaws. It's almost like saying the Academic or Graduate or University Research Council dropped the ball on SACS. However, like Educator almost sang, "We are family..." (though we have FAMILY dysFUNCTIONS on a regular basis).
Many schools don't give a flip about attaining NCATE accreditation. All schools strive for SACS accreditation. Mississippi's (inappropriate in my opinion) statutory requirement that NCATE status is necessary in order to teach in the public schools of the Magnolia state is the only thing that keeps NCATE afloat here.

Sorry, but you Are wrong!
First, there is a direct correlation that you have just illustrated.
Second, what grade did you not learn about the concepts of sets and subsets?
Finally, there will only be a couple of people involved in both processes?

Oh contraire, esteemed educator. You are wrong!! First, my two "!!" trumps your "!". Second, in what grade did you learn to read? READ THE ORIGINAL POST BY GRASS ROOTS!!! (three "!!!" really trumps your single "!") Finally, the PEC IS NOT CHARGED WITH ANY SACS DUTIES!!!! (wow, four "!!!!s"). Period. If you continue to insist this is true, go back to third grade, and refresh your reading and comprehension skills.

Sorry. Another back-flame. Just noticed further flaws in your logic. By your account, anyone involved in any accredited program on this campus IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SACS PROBATION!!!!! Finally (I love your emphasis with the use of "finally"), there WILL be only a couple of people involved in BOTH (remember set theory?) processes. Data? (Educator don't need no data!). Look at the committee memberships to date and draw two overlappoing circles. Put people on both processes in the overlapping segment. Count. Give me a break!!!!

Oh, another child who knows not what he or she speaks of. A relative of Educator? NACTE is the big dog in 37 states, and has relationships with 50 states and territories. Guess which TWO states have not involved NCATE at some level yet? And Texas is not the answer.
All schools in the US do not strive for SACs accreditation. Why? Trick question, run, run, run. Sit still and think about it for a minute.

Has all this been sorted out by the PEC?
SACs probation is not a setback for plans that have been made for NCATE?
