Today's HA editorial: "Board needs to spearhead investigation" is a great start.

Let's hope that in the same way that accrediting bodies talk freely with faculty and adminstrators in all units, the board will honestly triangulate with a representative university sample.

Shelby is going to want to control this very tightly - directing any inquiries to his hand-picked loyalists.  The board must meet with the university leadership that it has previously ignored.  It is the university leadership which will have the responsibility of cleaning up Shelby's mess and the board needs to realize that.  The university leadership has been silenced and ignored for far too long...almost three years.
