AFTER THE STORM: Earlier this year Angeline G. Dvorak promised to sue anyone who questioned her academic background. The threat came after two professors at the University of Southern Mississippi, where Ms. Dvorak was vice president for research and economic development, accused her of overstating her credentials -- a charge she vehemently denied.
The dispute went national after the university's president, Shelby F. Thames, moved to fire the two tenured professors. A confidential settlement was reached, and the two professors have left the university.
At the time some professors on the campus questioned whether Ms. Dvorak would be able to continue in her role. So it was not a complete surprise when she recently announced that she was leaving Southern Mississippi to become the president of a nonprofit economic-development group in Hattiesburg, the university's home.
Ms. Dvorak did not return telephone calls requesting comment. A university spokeswoman says Ms. Dvorak's decision to leave had nothing to do with the controversy.

A university spokeswoman had dang better not represent to the press why I left USM. I can speak for myself. Can any of the rest of us designate a 'university spokeswoman' to speak for us?

How long can we use a university spokesperson as our mouthpiece?

My understanding (from press releases) is that she is continuing as Research Foundation president until January. Who wants to bet that the all-important Foundation gets folded back into VP Burge's duties after Angie D. leaves?
