Some of you may recall the old message board questioning the wisdom of hiring Eustachy last spring because of his past behavior. There was never a question of his basketball coaching ability. You may also recall that he said he had dried out, become more religious, and gotten close to his family. Now the rumor is his family never came to Hattiesburg, and he's getting a divorce. His story sounds a little contrived if the rumor is true.
I don't think that makes his story contrived at all. Perhaps his divorce stemmed from the drinking with co-ed affair that got him fired, something that happened well before coming to Hattiesburg.
Didn't his wife accompany him on his visit to meet the media when his appointment was announced? I believe he said all was well on the home front at that time, but I could be mistaken.
As "Anonymouse" pointed out on another thread, personal attack/speculation etc is not the purpose of this board. Life is a challenge for everybody. Unless something is happening that really affects campus, let's please let people have their privacy.

Oh, I think it is related to campus issues: Eustachy is (or was) a great basketball coach, no question, but his wife balked at moving to Mississippi. That is a very familiar story and one that will plague this campus even more of late as SFT & Co. continue to destroy the university.
I am disappointed for Joye Lee-McNelis. I've met her a couple times and she seems like a class act - a good ambassador for the school and role model for the students. Nice combination of home-grown loyalty and external experience and validation. The recent article about her discusses her call to Aubrey Lucas when she was considering the job. Hope she and her team will have a good season despite the initial setback of a slow first game start.

Let's be fair here. LSU has been one of the top women's teams in the country for a number of years. A young team getting blown out by them is no surprise. Coach Lee-McNelis will be successful in time.

Did I come across as being unfair? That was not my intent.

Actually this post in nothing more than an attempt to shed a negative light on anything considered to somewhat positive at Southern Miss. Eustachy never hid from his problems.
You state it is rumored that he is getting a divorce. We'll it's not a rumor, Eustachy told the entire world about it three weeks ago in an interview with Sports Illustrated. Doesn’t sound like he's hiding anything to me. To be honest he didn't have to do that, I you have seen Eustachy recently you would have noticed that he doesn’t wear a wedding band. But, I don't see where it's any of our business. I'm willing to be that right now there are at least 2-3 faculty members who are either going thru or just finished divorce proceedings. It's a terrible tragedy for any family; don't belittle this man and his family in a sad attempt to get a political gain against Thames.
Please, there are enough things that are truly bad on this campus to talk about than trying to talk down Coach Eustachy who has always been a good coach. In addition to his winnings, he had one of the highest graduation rates in the Big 12 while coaching at Iowa State, and unlike many so called "big time" coaches, he take academics very seriously. I would think that many of you would be happy to see Southern Miss hire a coach like Eustachy who is serious about the academics for his players. Bower has always insisted on his players being academically sound, I suspect that Joy Lee-McNelis is the same way, and Coach Palmer is as well.
Support these coaches because they work under many of the same conditions that you work under.
Eustachy 2-1, just for the record. Georgia State won has won 20 games a year for the past five years and are projected as an NCAA tournament team this year.
