From the Nov. 2004 issue of Vanity Fair in an article by David Boies entitled "A Case of Kidnapping":


Boies offers this insight into the legal system and the idea of power as outright ownership of all civil rights, "few causes are more important than preventing the legal system from being used by the rich and the powerful to subvert rather than deliver justice."


We must continue to fight against this subversion by Daisy's Gatsbyesque regime.

I hate to break your heart, Emma, but the American "justice" system has always been used by the rich and the powerful to subvert rather than deliver justice.
