Al Capp's Lyricist

A Song For Shelby
Permalink Closed

After following the adventures of your esteemed president,  I've decided he reminds me of one of my favorite characters from southern folklore, General Jubilation T. Cornpone. And so, from the Ballad of Jubilation T. Cornpone, this one's for you Shelby...

"When we fought them commie  perfessers

And annihilation was near,

Who was there to lead the charge,

That took us to the rear?

Why it was  Jubilation T. Cornpone,

Old toot-your-own-horn pone.

Jubilation T. Cornpone,

A man who knew no fear."

Sir or Madam:

At the behest of President Thames, I monitor this message board regularly. I find your attempt at humor both disrespectful and offensive.  Dr. Thames is a man of dignity and not inconsiderable humility. He bears no resemblance whatever to this mythical "Cornpone" character, and your comparison of the two is most inappropriate.   While Dr. Thames maintains a jolly good humor about himself, be advised that any further attempts to mock him or sully his reputation will elicit an appropriate response.

Sincerely,

Joseph Goebbels
