Exline is out.... I wonder who will fill her position. Who fills these openings will tell us more about Saunders than we learn by these individuals' removals.

You and Cossack just can't be satisfied. First you where complaining that people were not being moved out fast enough. Now you say you won't give any credit until you see the replacements. Can't you be a little more positive? The president has only been here two months and she has made major positive changes. It must be terrible to be so negative.

Since I have not posted on this issue, the assumption is that I would be critical of what transpired. Not all resignations are because the person was fired or asked to resign. My understanding was that the President wants to streamline the executive team and reduce the number of people who report directly to her. While the person may perform the same duties, it can be seen as a demotion and a move backward in ones career. The person in question has worked in the health care private sector and has many other opportunities.
As for being negative, it is a trait imbedded in all humans. It is a term used to portray in a bad light those who do not agree them. It also is used to attempt to silence others. It often is a term muttered when a person periodically pulls their head out of the sand.
" "I've been thinking about it for quite a few months now," she said. "It's just time, with the school year starting and some reorganization changes Dr. (Martha) Saunders is considering. It's just time to move forward." ... "Some presidents come in and replace everybody, and ask for resignations all the way and get them. In my case I really want to make sure I keep all the talent that I can," she said. "I think we're all looking for a good fit." ...
"Much of the work Joan has been doing is typically done out of the provost's office at other institutions," she said. "I need to talk with the interim provost but I want to see how much of her responsibilities he will want to assume out of his office."

Pessimism (at USM) is a much more logical and rational reaction than is the Pollyanna attitude you display. Until Saunders establishes a track record of quality, positive action (not passive allowance) and decision making, she will be living in the shadow of the past -- a past colored by those who put SFT and Saunders in place.
The HA aricle neglected to mention the resignation of Dr. Willie Pierce, former Dean of CoEP, this spring. A more meaningful analysis might be the changes made before Dr. Saunders' arrival and those made after.
Neither could McKinley Morganfield. I'd say that puts Dr VN & Cossack in good company. (Although the thought of either of them strutting around singing, "I'm a full-growed man" is a bit over the top )
Maybe they're more like Mick Jagger & just can't git no satisfaction...

How about we all remember the free speech part of the First Amendment; that does not require label makers or constant comments, though you are free to do so.
Sometimes questions are asked merely to find out information, not as a foundation for a horrorific personal agenda.

Sorry, Sagacious, but you hit a particular "hot button" of mine. The First Amendment ain't got nothing to do with me, you, LVN, or Dr. VN (no relation, I trust) or anybody else that posts on this board, except that it prohibits the federal government from interfering with our right to do so.
Better put: why not let people write what they want to write - within the bounds the moderator has set - and let's keep moving forward as fast as we possibly can?

Good idea, I am for moving forward even though I do not know where we are going. However, where ever we go, it has a high probability of being more pleasant than where we have been.
