Nom d'Aplomb Award, October 24

Mal indicated mid-week that it was going to be quality over quantity for the N d'A awards this week. Invictus said I Beg to Differ, this week starts a Clean Slate and it's going to be A Better Fit than you think. Several posters who have stuck with the contest through Fair Weather and Foul know that we're not just a Variation on a Theme. Rather, we are Mader to Order as Art Imitating Life and a perfectly wonderful alternative to Daytime TV Games.

Last Minute Agenda Changes for the committee occurred with word Just in from the IHL. There was not a little bit of Irony in the turnaround of the phrase Now is Not the Time to Blink (!) and The Irony Does Not Escape Us. Just a PUCing Peon, performing Double Dipping Duty with a Stethoscope to the Wall may be Dumber than Dumb unless you want to end up as a Fallen Eagle. See, We All Know What is Best and what is best is to Hear No Evil and See No Evil. If you can't live with that advice then at least Be Careful, especially if you are an Unsuspecting Staffer. At USM, We Can Run but We Can't Hide from View. Like Foot Soldier said, there is an eye every hurricane, we're sure that Hurricane Ken is no exception. We would hate to shed A Tier in my Beer over Losing You.

A new Rap Tune, Yates Hata, features lead vocalist Nina with Clio and Qwerty as back up. It's sure to be a Best Cellar (or is that referring to where Miss I keeps the supply of dewberry brandy?)

Was it Gurunuburg's Undercover Operative or a Coincidental Tourist who determined that JG's Risk Manager was actually Hack Hanbury? Only a Conspiracy Theorist, like the Intelligencer, knows the answer to that and to the question, the Kenbot did WOT?

We also welcome back some oldies but goodies this week, both Present Professor and Amy Young, who remind us that more people are watching than posting.

Mal and Miss I remind readers that although blatantly sucking up to Invictus with Watching the River Flow appears to have paid off for this week's winner, Invictus is only 1/3 of the committee. Enuf is enuf! The lucky weiner may retrieve the coveted, suitable for framing award certificate at the usual place.

What?  I won?  I'm the lucky (Aramark) weiner?  I'm speechless.  Please, allow me just a moment to collect my thoughts.....Thank you to the committee, to my fellow nominees,  to my fans, and  to the academy members.  I am humbled by this honor,  and promise to maintain the  high standards set  by previous recipients.

And for those of you in the trenches, who keep this board alive,  I leave you with these words from the inimitable Mr. Dylan:

"The trail is dusty.

The road it might be rough.

But the good road is a-waitin'.

And boys it ain't far off."
