I just returned from the June luncheon of the DMA (Don't Mention Age), the retiree organization for USM faculty and staff. The June meeting is always sponsored by the President of the University, so this was my first meeting with Martha Saunders.

What a wonderful experience. It's true what they say about her. She is so easy to speak with, you forget that you have not known her for your whole life.

Here is an example: Dr. Lucas introduced her and told a story about his recent conversation with an alumnus . The person told Lucas he had met Martha Saunders for the first time and took her to lunch. Lucas asked where they went and the reply was the "Poor boy Express". Lucas was shocked and asked if that was an appropriate place to take the President to eat. The reply was "Martha loved it".

Maybe AAUP should take her to "JavaWerks" to meet the gang.
